Glastonbury Update: Primal Scream to follow Mumford and Sons on The Other Stage

Friday night at Glastonbury 2011 will see the Scottish alternative group go head to head with Irish giants U2, who will be performing on the Pyramid Stage, reports The Metro.

It has also been revealed that Mumford & Sons will be performing before Primal Scream take to the uniquely named Other Stage.

The four man folk-rock band consisting of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane will serenade the crowds with their award winning blend of poignant vocals, and country-inspired melodies featuring instruments such as banjo, accordion and mandolin.

The Brit-winners will then make way for the ‘euphoric rock ‘n’ roll’ sound of comeback kings Primal Scream, as described by lead singer Bobby Gillespie in a recent interview with music magazine NME.

Today’s announcement also saw the unveiling of several other acts including The Chemical Brothers, Laura Marling, Friendly Fires and Warpaint.

Rumours of a Foo Fighters appearance are as yet unconfirmed, so watch this space.

Glastonbury Festival is set to go ahead from the 23rd to 28th of June 2011.  Tickets are unfortunately sold out, but keep an eye on the website for a chance to snap up any cancellations in April:
