The Park Life Weekender

Manchester 2011 – The Parklife Weekender

It might be a coincidence that “Park Life” (Blur) has just come on to the radio ahead of The Parklife Weekender but it is a nice reminder. However the genre couldn’t be further off what Platt Fields Park has to offer this weekend with headline acts including Two Door Cinema Club (Saturday) and Chase and Status (Sunday).

Aside from the big names there seems to be a line-up covering a week’s worth of talent all crammed into one weekend so festival goers won’t be left wanting and although, secretly, we would all like to be at the Isle of White festival, The Park Life Weekender is bound to be one hell of a party.

While it’s great to get the opinions, insites and views of the performers we also like to get the opinions of the crowd and offer an insight to the ”feel” of the festival from a grass roots level. For this reason I am volunteering to take up the role of festival investigator which is another way of saying I’m going to try and meet and talk to as many people as I possibly can and find out if you’re all having a bloody good time.

For full listings see the official Park Life Weekender website and if you see me there please pick me up off the floor.

Bring on the Weekend.

Creamfields – Extra day for Campers!

Posted on 21 May 2011 by Mizzle

Due to demand, Creamfields has announced a third day and will now open its gates for all you campers on Friday 26th August! Creamfields becoming a 3 day camping event will not only improve ease of access to the site for festivalgoers but there will also be an array of entertainment on offer within the main event site:

*That Mixmag Thing Silent Disco*
Scratch Perverts
Brookes Brothers
Futurebound
Clique DJ’s

*Size Matters Silent Disco*
Screening Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Take One’ Movie
Tim Mason
Third Party

Friday campers will also be able to chill out at the festival’s on-site cinema which will be showing a collection of iconic clubbing films as well as enjoying all the fun of the fair, stalls and more. Access to the event on Friday is limited and only open to festival goers camping at the event. Any existing camping ticket holders wishing to purchase a Friday ticket for £20 (standard) / £30 (hospitality) should contact their ticket agent to book.

Demand from fans to introduce a Friday opening has been high since Creamfields became a two day camping event in 2008. Selling out in record time over the last 2 years, 2011 is already on course to eclipse last year’s success.

So if I were you, I would get booking the Friday ticket so you don’t miss out on all the fun!

Global Gathering 2011

Posted on 06 May 2011 by Mizzle

It’s now less than 3 months till Global Gathering 2011! Held at Long Marston Airfield, Stratford-Upon-Avon, it is the annual dance music festival by Angel Music Group, just in case you didn’t know already. It will be taking place on Friday 29th – Saturday 30th July. DJs normally finish around 6am on Sunday, but if you’re camping the party normally carries on into the late morning, then the reality dawns on everyone that they actually have to travel home at some point that day!

In the last 3 years of going to Global I have had some memorable times. In 2009 the wrist bands even said Globai instead of Global! The First Year I went (2008) Godskitchen took place in the biggest marquee in Europe and featured what I and others thought were the most amazing LED screens ever seen. On top of the screens, they looked like a Christmas tree turned upside down. The stunning laser show was jaw dropping.

In my opinion this year promises to be even bigger and better. Okay, The Prodigy isn’t in the line up but there are some amazing acts which I just can’t wait to see. On the main stage again this year, we will be seeing Jaguar Skills. Labrinth will be joining the likes of the headliners, Tinie Tempah & Pendulum, and performing live.

Then as usual you have the marquee’s such as ‘Global’ were you can see the likes of Eric Pryds, Sasha, Underword (live) and Joris Voorn. Then in ‘Hospitality’ you’ll also get to see Andy C and High Contrast. Performing in ‘Toolroom Knights’ you’ll discover Fedde Le Grand, Michael Woods with special guest Benny Benassi. Enlightening us to another enchanting year in ‘Rinse’ Skream & Benga, Zinc and Boy Better know. The creme dela creme of all acts and the one that I’m looking forward to the most in marquee ‘Metropolis’ is …. Chase & Status! WOW – these guys were AMAZING last year! If you have never been to Global before, attend just to see Chase & Status live. Last year was their first year performing live and even they called it ‘An Amazing Experience.’ If this isn’t enough to tempt you, you’ll also get to witness performances from Nero, Caspa & Rod Azlan, Sub Focus & Skrillex.

So after naming just a few, will you be one of the 50,000 attending this year?

For more information about this year’s line up and much more visit Global Gathering.

Enjoy (I know I will)!

Top Headliners and luxury camping announced for this year’s infamous Kendall Calling

Posted on 06 April 2011 by Chris Knight

With headliners like Blondie, Chase & Status and The Cribs, this year’s Kendall calling is set to call revellers from around the Country to take part in a fantastic festival this summer.

Kendall Calling won Best Small Festival award at last year’s UK Festival Awards and has also been nominated for an NME award.

As if that wasn’t enough, organisers have now revealed that a luxury camping area will be available at the event.  ‘The Lodge’ is one of the most extensive luxury camping areas to be seen at any UK festival – perfect for anyone who loves music, but doesn’t want to rough it in a traditional camping environment.  With private parking, monitored toilets and hot showers, not to mention staff on call 24 hours a day and a private bar – this is a long way from the usual camping experience.

The Lodge is perfect for those who want to camp in style and don’t mind spending extra to make a holiday out of the weekend, but for those on a budget there is still the traditional no frills camping option – ensuring no one has to miss out on what organisers described as “a line up to make Kendall Calling proud.”

The party kicks off on Friday 29th July until Sunday 31st July, with forecasters predicting a hot summer, and Kendall Calling promising fantastic sounds in luxury surroundings, what more could you ask from a summer music festival.

Prices range from £95 for basic camping, while prices for the Luxury Lodge start at £184. Tickets are set to sell out fast, to book yours visit www.ticketine.co.uk or www.kendalcalling.com
